IT was an Edinburgh Gin Summer Saturday filled with colour and flavour at Chester Racecourse, as thousands of punters turned out and the weather remained fine.
Chester’s second Saturday meeting of the season had plenty to excite, including the feature race of the afternoon, The Edinburgh Gin Seaside Handicap Stakes, won by Saxon King under the ride of Kieran Shoemark.
In between races, guests had the opportunity to try out various Edinburgh Gin products and activations, as well as all the other bars and facilities across the world’s oldest racecourse.
Top jockey at the fixture was Ben Curtis, who rode two winners – Capone and The Thunderer – to success in the Manor Car Hire Handicap Stakes and the Edinburgh Gin Rhubarb & Ginger Handicap Stakes.
Elsewhere, course specialist Box To Box made it a hat-trick of victories on the Roodee with success in the Edinburgh Gin Cannonball Handicap Stakes under the ride of James Doyle.
Greg Cheyne, meanwhile, gave a peach of a ride to Faro De San Juan to spring a win at big odds in the Edinburgh Gin Classic Handicap Stakes.
Innvincible Friend was the winner of the Juddmonte EBF Restricted Novices Stakes, while the other victor on the afternoon was Vintage Clarets in the Edinburgh Gin Spritz Handicap Stakes.
