A FOOTBALLER from Flintshire has joined the Love Island villa.

Scott Van Der Sluis, from Connah's Quay, has said he has joined ITV2's hit dating show for a "change-up in life".

He is a professional footballer who is currently contracted to League of Ireland side Shelbourne and played for Bangor City previously.

Scott was born to a Dutch mother and grew up in Connah's Quay, attending Wepre Primary School.

When asked on what his elevator pitch would be for why someone would want to date him he said: "Tall, dark, handsome and I’m a goalkeeper, so I’m good with my hands!"

Describing why he decided to go onto Love Island he explained: "Football is all I’ve ever done, all I’ve ever known. So this is a new and exciting opportunity for a change-up in life."

Explaining why he's single he said: "I’ve been single through my own choice, as well as circumstances. I’ve moved around a lot with football and I’ve been based in Dublin playing football for over a year.

"I’ve been single for three and a half years so it’s been a while so I’m ready and open to anything!"

In terms of what gave him the 'ick' he said: "Someone who gets too clingy too quickly. I don’t like too many calls and too many texts.

"I’m not a fan of someone wearing Nike Air Force 1 trainer with a dress on a night out either or waking up with someone and seeing patchy fake tan in the morning."

Love Island continues tonight at 9 pm on ITV2 and ITVX
