FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze at a garage connected to a house.
The incident occurred last night (Tuesday, June 13) at a property on Gardden View in Ruabon.
Two fire engines attended the incident shortly before 8pm, with the blaze extinguished by just before 9pm, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said.
Johnstown Fire Station posted on its Facebook page saying: "Thankfully the occupants had working detectors which alerted them to the fire and they had evacuated the property before we arrived.
"It appears that the fire was caused by the fridge overheating due to items being stored on top and closely around it. Please make sure that you leave enough space around your household appliances."
If you need free smoke detectors and advice on staying safe in the home call 0800 169 1234 between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
