TWO Flintshire establishments have been awarded five-star food hygiene ratings recently.

The food hygiene rating scheme gives businesses in England and Wales a rating of 0-5, 5 being the highest, based on their hygiene standards. 

The scheme is run in partnership with local authorities and in Wales businesses are obligated to display their rating. 

The Food Standards Agency's website shows that it was good news for two Flintshire venues in that respect recently.

The following two sites have been awarded a score of five-out-of-five:

  • Village Urban Resort, St David's, at St Davids Park Hotel, St Davids Park Spine Road, Ewloe, Flintshire was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on May 31.
  • And Walter's Coffee House, at The Old School, Main Road, Higher Kinnerton, Flintshire was also given a score of five on May 24.

That now means that, of Flintshire's 201 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 167 (83%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
