Firefighters were called out to Llangollen after a chapel was struck by lightning.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed a call came in at 6.51pm reporting a fire at the building, off Cymmo Road in the Rhewl area of Llangollen.
A spokesman for the service confirmed that two crews were sent to the scene - one each from Wrexham and Llangollen.
Most of the fire was out by the time the crews arrived, the spokesman said, but following investigation it was concluded that the incident had been caused when the building was struck by lightning.
It resulted in some damage to the front of the property.
