Members of the public have been urged to call 999 if they come across a dog in a hot car and can't find the owner.
The call came from PCSO Dean Sawyer of the Wrexham Rural Policing team on Saturday.
He said: "With the recent warmer weather which is hopefully here to stay, we would like to remind everyone around the dangers of leaving a dog inside vehicles, even for a short amount of time.

"Whilst it may not feel too hot outside for us, the inside of cars can become significantly hot, very quickly, which can cause heatstroke and become deadly for our four legged friends.
"If you come across a dog inside a locked vehicle in the warm weather, you should attempt to locate the driver.
"If you are unable to, then dial 999."
