MOTORISTS have been urged to avoid part of Wrexham as fire crews tackle a serious house blaze.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed a call was received just after 5.30pm on Thursday reporting the incident, at a property in Mold Road.
Two crews and an aerial ladder platform remain at the scene as of 9pm.
A spokesman for the service described the incident as "serious" and said "extensive damage" had been caused.
The cause and full extent of the damage are not yet known.
North Wales Police issued a brief statement about the situation at around 6.40pm on Thursday.
A spokesman explained: "Due to an incident, Mold road in Wrexham is closed between the junction of Maesgwyn Road and the junction of Berse road roundabout as you're heading out of Wrexham Town.
"The road is still open in the other direction heading into town although congested - please avoid the area."
The Welsh Ambulance service was notified about the incident just before 5.40pm, a spokesman confirmed - but no ambulance crews were required to attend.
