"So as the warmer days become more frequent take the following steps to minimise the risk of an opportunistic burglar."
- Don’t leave windows open, if no one is at the property.
- Invest in additional locks and chains or even CCTV/doorbell camera which are becoming ever more affordable
- Dummy cameras and window stickers are equally effective.
- Don’t hide keys under door mats or plant pots, invest in a key safe – if you really want to have the last laugh super glue an old key, not related to your property, underneath your door mat – Burglars generally rely on speed and anything that can cause delay will put them off and make them think twice!
- Don’t keep house or vehicle keys near doors or windows.
- Despite how excited you maybe about your annual holiday or weekend getaway, don’t advertise the countdown to departure or share photos of yourselves while you are on holiday on social media. Wait until you get home - do you really know who is looking at your profiles?
- Mark your property with “SMART WATER”
