Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) say they are 'continually looking at options' to improve parking at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

The North Wales Health Board has addressed concerns about parking at the site, which have been raised on social media and felt by visitors, patients and staff at the hospital.

The issue has also been raised to The Leader previously, which included concerns about cars allegedly parked in disabled spaces without blue badges which was addressed by the Health Board.

Rumours have been circulating about a possible multi-storey car park at the hospital, and while these have been quashed by the health board, it has confirmed that plans are being made to help improve the situation at the site.

Ian Donnelly, director of operations for the East Integrated Health Community, said: “We fully appreciate how challenging car parking can be for patients, visitors and staff at Wrexham Maelor Hospital and we do not underestimate the stress and anxiety this can cause.

“We are continually looking at options to address this, but we have no plans to introduce a multi-storey car park on the hospital site.

“Later this year we will relocate some services currently provided at the hospital to Plas Gororau, which has 200 additional car parking spaces.

"This development will play an important role in alleviating car parking pressures at the Maelor.”

Plas Gororau is a 44,186 sqft building on the technology park with 212 car parking spaces, and is only a six-minute walk from the hospital’s main entrance.
