TODAY the Leader takes its third and final trip to 1980 for the Miss Lovely Legs competition.
And we meet one of the woman who took part in the Pretty Polly hosiery sponsored contest, and walked away with a prize.
Eventually down to 12 contestants, they headed for the final at Deeside Leisure Centre for the region's results, and an evening filled with Spanish cabaret, music and disco dancing.
In first place was Lorraine Toyne, from Mynydd Isa, second was Marie Catherall, from Mold, and in third was May Jones, from Broughton.
The winners of each region, later headed to the national final in London.
May Jones was 29 at the time, and has very fond memories of the whole experience, still having her sash and newspaper cuttings.
Her prize for third place was a weekend in London, with first class travel and hotel. Along with husband Philip, they chose a date that coincided with their 10th wedding anniversary. The prize also included £25 and a bag of Pretty Polly goodies.
Mum-of-two May, now 72, said: "It was a lovely surprise to see it again in the paper. At the time we'd all been invited to have our pictures taken at the Leader office in Wrexham, which then went in the paper and people voted for their favourite. I got through to the final 12 from that.
"It was so interesting. We had a dress rehearsal in the Hawarden Suite a few days before. The actual evening was really good.

"We were back in the audience, enjoying the cabaret, and told if we got a tap on the shoulder, it meant we were in the final three. Then backstage to get changed again. It was quite exciting really.
"Since then I joined an adult tap dancing class, the Shirley School of Dancing, which meant many shows at Theatre Clwyd with lots of leotards and sequins so you could say I continued with a life of glamour."
