A BIN YARD in Holywell has been described as 'a playground for rats' after residents claim rubbish hasn't been collected for over two months.
Litter can be seen overflowing in the bin yard of Memorial House in Holywell which is home to eight apartments, with health and safety concerns now being raised about potential rat infestations.
One resident who wishes to remain annonymous claims that complaints were made to the council over a month ago but has since had no response: "I lodged a complaint with Flintshire County Council a month ago and it has been ignored.
"The hot weather is making it worse - it absolutely stinks.

"The bins are full of food waste and something has already got into the bags as they have been dragged out. It's a health concern as well if it starts to attract rats as they are so difficult to get rid of."
Flintshire Council cited access issues as the reasoning behind the build-up in rubbish which posed problems when trying to collect the waste, but assured that the rubbish would be collected.
A spokesperson said: "The council’s waste collection crew experienced access issues to the site.
"However, these appear to have been resolved and the waste is due to be collected today."
