A BAND from Wrexham are celebrating the release of their debut album with a weekend of gigs in their hometown.

The Royston Club made up of mates from school, was formed in 2019 and has had some rise since getting together.

Tom Faithfull, Ben Matthias, Sam Jones and Dave Tute have been on tours of the UK, played festivals in America, and have had over 15,000,000 streams on Spotify.

With another UK tour on the horizon, The Royston Club have today (June 2) announced their debut album 'Shaking Hips and Crashing Cars' and to celebrate are performing two gigs in Wrexham this weekend.

Tonight, they play at Glyndwr TV, before another gig at the Parish tomorrow evening, which has sold out.

The first album has been a long time coming, but The Royston Club is hoping it will be worth the wait.

They said: "It's such an amazing feeling finally getting to release day. We've had some of the songs for over two years just waiting to record and release to the world, now it's here we're just hoping that everyone loves listening to it as much as we loved making it.

"We've been overwhelmed by all the love on the announcement and all the singles building up to it.

"We had such a long period with no new music and we were always being asked "when's the album out" or "when's new music coming?"

"So it was a wonderful feeling to be able to share the news with everyone and it got us even more excited for releasing it today.

"Wrexham is such a special place, not only our hometown but it's where we did our first ever show as a band. So we've got that special connection with the town and whenever we play here the gigs are always so memorable."

Following the Wrexham gigs, the band is headed on another tour of the UK in October.

The excitement among the four lads is certainly building, they added: "It's been over a year since we last toured and we've all been itching to get back out there, especially as there will be songs we've never played live before thrown in there off the album there's a whole new level of excitement.

"We've had great times in all the cities on our tour, but I think with Manchester New Century Hall being our biggest-ever headline show it's hard not to look at that one. But I'm sure they'll all be amazing.

"Obviously with the album coming out, we've got a busy summer with festivals, before our UK tour in October.

"There might be a few more things we can't yet share as well."
