A POLICE Inspector has urged victims of domestic abuse to reach out for help.

The Leader reported last week how Flintshire North Inspector Wesley Williams reaffirmed his priorities of tackling violence against women and girls, as well as reducing domestic abuse, identifying and supporting victims, and tackling those intent on causing harm.

Insp Williams has now called on those who find themselves in abusive situations - as well as those who may know others in those situations - to reach out for help.

His words come after the jailing of 26-year-old Joe Roberts, of Farm Drive in Connah's Quay, on Thursday.

He admitted counts of theft, resisting police, breaching a domestic violence protection order and assaulting his partner Kim Dixon.

Overall, he received a six week custodial sentence.

Inspector Williams said: "This demonstrates the positive approach we are taking towards domestic matters.

"We do take this seriously and are encouraging anyone who is a victim, or who is aware of anyone who may be a potential victim, to let us know so we can provide support.

"You can also reach out via other agencies who may be able to provide support such as BAWSO, DASU and Women's Aid.

"You're not alone - we are here to support and guide you through the process. Don't suffer in silence."
