After hearing great things about one of the town's most popular cafe's, since it moved from its original spot on Earl Road, I decided to call in for some lunch.
Located on the corner, ajacent to the High Street near the traffic lights, The Gathering offers the perfect spot to sit down to enjoy a coffee and a light bite whilst watching the world go by.
Lunch is served daily from 11.30am until 3pm with all food prepared fresh.
Upon entering the cafe, the smiling faces behind the counter were more than happy to accommodate me and handed over a menu before inviting me to sit at one of the many tables or on one of the stools that run along the 'bar style' table by the window, looking out towards the High Street (perfect for people watching!)
Despite being a Tuesday morning, the cafe was still a hive of activity and was clearly a very busy and popular venue.
The Gathering was filled with residents catching up with friends, taking young ones out for something to eat, and even just people nursing a coffee whilst reading the newspaper.
When visiting for lunch, The Gathering specialises in lighter bites, so ideal for a snack with a variety of toasties, soups, sandwiches and cakes.
I decided to go for the classic and simple ham and cheese toastie (£7.95) with a latte (£3.05).
I didn't have to wait for long at all before my latte was brought out in a fair sized glass - it was very tasty too!
There were plenty of other hot drinks on the menu too as well as a range of soft drinks.
My freshly made toastie was brought out to me soon after and was accompanied with a generous portion of crisps, the option of salad and coleslaw was also available - but not for me.
A tasty twist to the toastie, I thought, was the inclusion of a chilli jam which really went well and made for something a bit different which I really enjoyed.
Not being a huge cake/sweet treat eater, I opted against ordering any of the cakes or slices on offer, but there were plenty of options to choose from for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Overall, the atmosphere of The Gathering was very relaxed and the staff were all extremely accommodating and friendly.
I would certainly return - particularly as I'd be keen to try their breakfast offering as I have heard great things about that also!
The cafe is a great asset to Mold and I would highly recommend giving it a try if you haven't done already!
