A FLINTSHIRE man has been handed a "substantial" fine after subjecting his ex-partner to his "degrading and embarrassing" behaviour.

Glyn Price, of Y Dolydd in Mold, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court for sentence on Tuesday.

The 61-year-old had been convicted after trial of assaulting his ex-partner Charlotte Blackwell by beating her.

Prosecutor Rhian Jackson told the court that the incident happened in Mold on September 21.

Shortly after 5pm, Price went to the victim's home to drop their child off.

He became aggressive towards Ms Blackwell; making comments about her current husband, clenching his fists, 'snarling' and continually swearing.

The court heard he then cleared his throat and spat on her skirt.

Ms Jackson said the whole incident was "very intimidating, degrading and embarrassing".

Probation officer Andrew Connah told the court Price, a qualified engineer, continues to deny the offence - despite being convicted.

His conviction may jeopardize his well-paid job at Sellafield Nuclear Power plant, Mr Connah added.

The Leader:

In limited submissions to the court - having heard from Deputy District Judge Lee Davies that he intended to fine the defendant - Simon Simmons, defending, said: "He is anticipating losing his job tomorrow.

"They (Price and the victim) haven't been together for many years and he has had no contact since this incident."

The Deputy District Judge said the financial penalty would be "substantial" given the defendant's income - ordering him to pay a £2,800 fine, £1,120 victim surcharge and £640 prosecution costs.
