A PREMIER League cult hero has said he would 'love to' sign for Wrexham if given the chance to do so.

It was a season to remember for the Reds during 2022/23 as they ended a 15-year wait for a return to the English Football League.

A 3-1 win over Boreham Wood on April 22 not only secured promotion, but also the league title.

And it's been a whirlwind of a story already for the club both on and off the pitch ever since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney became co-chairmen in February 2021.

With that has, of course, come some unprecedented exposure for the club.

From new fans from aorund the world to words of praise from the likes of Hugh Jackman and Will Ferrell, Wrexham has become a global phenomenon over the last two years.

And the latest to confess their love for the Reds is none other than a former Premier League star.

Morten Gamst Pedersen became a much-loved figure during his playing days in England's top-flight.

The Norwegian midfielder made 259 Premier League appearances for Blackburn Rovers between 2004 and 2011, scoring 34 goals and providing 39 assists.

Since leaving England, he still has a reputation among the football fan community as having been a joy to watch on the ball, with his wand of a left foot.

Now 41, Pedersen is still playing football back in his home country of Norway with second-division side Ranheim.

But, in an interview with SPORTBible, he revealed that he would love to make the move to north Wales with Wrexham should that opportunity ever arise in future.

He was also full of praise for the club's owners Rob and Ryan.

He said: "It's unbelievable what they are doing. I think it's so cool. Yes, they get promoted and everything, but they are also building a brand from a club that's quite far down in the system.

"It shows that if you get the right people and the right attitude, and everybody drags in the same direction, you can do a lot.

"Aren't they the second-oldest club in the UK as well? They have a great history."

Asked about whether he'd like to sign for Wrexham, Pedersen added: "Yeah, I would love to. Why not? Of course. Maybe if you tag me in a social media post, Ryan Reynolds could read this, and we get a chance to meet…"
