Held in Cardiff for its ninth year, the annual celebration of the hair and beauty industry has seen several winners from the region.

The awards hold extra special meaning for many, as winners are chosen by client voting, the very people that help make their businesses what they are.

Nominee Amie Mitchell and her team were thrilled when their salon, ME Hairdressing, in Shotton won Hair Salon of the Year North.

Salon owner Amie said: "It was amazing. There were 10 finalists and it was based on clients' voting for you.

"That's why we're so blown away with it. It means everything to us, it's all about the clients. It means the absolute world.

"Hopefully we'll go on and do it again next year, we all just love what we do.

"We've been inundated with compliments from clients but they're really like winners too."

Amie was equally pleased for all other winners from the area, adding: "I'm proud of ourselves but it was really nice to be there with other local salons. It's lovely to see others, and so many, doing so well."

Another winner at the glamorous event on May 14 at the Cardiff City Stadium was A & R Studios Hair & Beauty in Buckley.

They walked away with Hair and Beauty Salon of the Year North, as well as being crowned the Hair and Beauty Salon of the Year Overall Winner.

Rachel Wynne, from A & R Studios, said: "We are so overwhelmed as a team to win such an amazing award.

She added: "The award means so much to us and it’s been awarded just as we are about to start our new adventure and move our business to Buckley High Street. I’m excited for our new chapter."
