Medieval Times

The Medieval period, or the Middle Ages, is often portrayed as a time of chivalric knights rescuing maidens in distress. The myth of the medieval noblewoman as virginal, humble and patiently waiting for rescue by a brave knight or a handsome prince is dispelled by Kelcey Wilson-Lee in her vibrant account of the five daughters of Edward I, Daughters of Chivalry. Susanna Gregory is one author that uses the medieval period as the setting for her Matthew Bartholomew crime series of novels, of which The Chancellor's Secret is the latest. The new book by Paul Doherty, Dark Queen Wary, is a medieval mystery set during the Wars of the Roses at the close of the medieval period. If you love historical books then these titles and many more medieval fiction books and factual books about the medieval period are available from Wrexham Library.

Ond fel roedd y Cymrics eu hunain yn ei wybod trwy brofiad, mewn gwendid y perffeithiwyd pob mudiad chwyldroadol – hyd at yr awr pan fo'r gwan rhyw ddydd yn codi yn gry.
