TRIBUTES have been paid to a 'Buckley legend' who was 'like a mum to all' who knew her.

Pauline Roberts, 63, died on Monday, May 14, not long after choosing to come home to spend time with family after having spent eight long weeks at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

She had five sisters; Angela, Ann, Sharon, Susan and Sian and eight children; Ray, Ste, Charlotte, James, Stacy, Rob, Paul and Sean, as well as grandchildren.

Ms Roberts has been described by those who knew her best as a 'beautiful person inside and out'.

A fundraiser set up to give Ms Roberts the 'send off she deserves' has so far raised over £750.

The team at the Black Lion, Buckley, told the Leader that 'the whole family is part' of the pub.

Paying tribute to Ms Roberts via Facebook, the Black Lion team wrote: "Today marks a very sad day for everyone in Buckley. Today we lost one of Buckley’s legends Pauline Roberts.

"For everyone that grew up in Buckley she was like a mum to us all and wasn’t scared to say it as it was and for that she was loved even more. She was a beautiful person inside and out.

"Your legacy will definitely live on in your amazing family who doted on you like the whole of Buckley did. Fly high Queen of the Mawr rest easy with Ste."

Daughter Stacy also paid tribute and said: "Our mum was literally our rock and brought us all up on her own, she played mum and dad, made sure we had the best life she could possibly give us, she took on so many others along the way and was always there to help anyone.

"She was everyone's auntie Pauline and it was her who they went to if they fell over in the street as they all grew older they still came to her for advice and everything in between.

"She was loved by not just us, but everyone who had the pleasure to meet her, the 'Queen of the Mawr' is who everyone knows her as.

"Her legacy will live on through everyone who knew her, mum's life has never been the same since we lost Ste (her son). They are now reunited forever."
