Meet the two lovable French bulldogs looking for their forever homes with the help of a Flintshire dog rescue.
Almost Home Dog Rescue, in Nercwys, has two residents who are in need of families to care and love them for the rest of their lives.
The rescue has helped over 1,000 dogs get their forever homes since 2016 and says their ethos has always been to provide a safe haven for dogs in need and to educate the next generation of dog owners.
Here are Lulu and Lavender:
Lulu
She is a French bulldog who is around 4 years old and, sadly, appears to have been a victim of backyard breeding. The rescue has observed that she has had litter after litter and, they say that now the market for puppies has crashed, has been dumped in the pound.
Almost Home added: “She is a total sweetheart who fears most things and seeks reassurance from her handler, trusting you after just a few minutes. She loves cuddles and fuss but sadly will duck or cower with sudden hand movements, which is heartbreaking.”
The rescue says she is coming along well and becoming more confident. She loves short walks and her food. She also loves her bed and had even done some zoomies since arriving at Almost Home.
They think she needs someone to show her that the world is not as scary as she thinks. They think she would be best suited as an only dog in a home, as while she is fine out walking around other dogs, she doesn’t like them in her face.

Lavender
She is around 18 months old and is a “dinky little” French bulldog cross. The rescue has described her as sweet and loves a fuss and a cuddle.
They know that she has been kept in a flat, sometimes for several days at a time with no one seeing her, feeding her or letting her out.
The result is that she has had little social interaction and has not seen the world. Her nails had been so over-grown, they were curled and touching her pads, so the rescue knows that she had gotten little love. Despite this, she has been trusting and “showing signs that she’ll be just fine”.
Since being at the rescue she has begun to decompress and relax. The rescue is currently assessing her with other dogs but so far she is fine with them in the kennels.
Almost Home said: “Lav is good in the car and happy to be handled. She's fine around her food and ADORES her big, comfy bed. She is going to need an emphatic home with somebody who will allow her to come out of her shell as and when she's ready. Calm and confident owners who will give her plenty of reassurance.”
