A MAN from Wrexham has been jailed after grabbing a woman’s arm and grunting at her as she was leaving a pub in the city.

Nkonde Liandisha, 30, of Plas Madoc, was sentenced to seven months imprisonment at Mold Crown Court today (May 10) having admitted a charge of sexual assault on a female.

He was also made subject to sex offenders register notification requirements for 10 years.

Emmalyne Downing, prosecuting, told the court that, on December 17, 2022, Liandisha grabbed the upper arm of the woman when she was leaving the pub, and then “grunted in a sexual way to her”.

She was “unnerved” by the actions of Liandisha, who was on post-sentence supervision for a previous offence, and under the influence of alcohol, at the time.

Her partner recognised and challenged Liandisha, and he was arrested the following day.

In a statement, the woman said she felt lucky she was with her partner at the time, as if not, she feared Liandisha “would have done more”.

She said that the incident “plays on her mind”, has caused her anxiety, and made her feel vulnerable.

The woman said she is also reluctant to enter Wrexham city centre when it is dark.

Liandisha had seven previous convictions for nine offences, including matters relating to both sexual and public order offences.

He pleaded guilty via videolink in court this morning, having been remanded in custody.

Nicholas Williams, defending, accepted that Liandisha has exhibited “repetitive, low-level, but still worrying behaviour, towards lone females”.

Mr Williams said Liandisha’s offending can potentially be attributed to his abuse of drugs, namely spice, and alcohol.

But he said his client “doesn’t want to carry on like this” and that he “wants to remain drug and alcohol-free upon his release”.

He had been working 12-hour shifts through an agency from September until December 2022, but relapsed back into alcohol shortly before his arrest.

Judge Timothy Petts told Liandisha: “This is not the first time, by any means, you have sexually assaulted women in public, or harassed them sexually.

“It seems recent custodial sentences have done little to deter you.”

Liandisha will also pay a statutory surcharge upon his release from prison.
