A PERSON was airlifted to hospital following a medical emergency at a tourist hotspot on the Shropshire/Wales border yesterday (Monday, May 8).
Emergency services attended the Chirk Aqueduct area at around 3.30pm.
The individual was later airlifted to University Hospital Aintree, near Liverpool.
Superintendent Jon Bowcott, of North Wales Police, said: "Officers from North Wales Police, along with colleagues from emergency services from both Wales and England this afternoon (Monday) responded to a medical emergency in the vicinity of Chirk Aqueduct.

"The activity in the area has understandably created significant public interest and concern.
"Operations at the site have now wound down, and I would like to reassure people that there was never a threat to the wider public nor are there any ongoing issues of concern."

Alongside police were firefighters and paramedics, from both sides of the border, along with the air ambulance which was flown in from Welshpool.
The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed it was at the scene with the support of West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) and one person was taken to hospital.
A spokesperson said: "We were called today (May 8) shortly before 3.30pm to reports of an incident near Chirk Aqueduct, Wrexham.
"We sent one emergency ambulance, one duty operational manager, one Cymru high acuity response unit paramedic and a community first responder to the scene, where we were supported by the Wales Air Ambulance and West Midlands Ambulance Service.
"One person was taken by air to University Hospital Aintree for further treatment."
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) also confirmed that confirmed it had sent crews to the scene from Oswestry and Shrewsbury, including the water rescue unit and an operations manager.
They added: "Crews assisted ambulance crews in rescue of one person.
"Over-the-border appliances from Llangollen and Deeside also attended."
