A FORMER coronation queen from a Wrexham village recently dug out some of her old attire and memories ahead of celebrating the King's coronation.
Kathleen Ralphs (formerly Evans) was chosen to be the coronation queen in Llay 70 years ago - back when Queen Elizabeth II was coronated.
This weekend (Saturday, May 6), will see King Charles III's coronation take place from 11am at Westminster Abby.
Ahead of that milestone event, Kathleen - who turned 86 years old this week - had been searching for some memorabilia from the day she herself was the queen of Llay.
She came across some old photos, a tiara, a bracelet and the sash she wore on that day local re-enactments of the coronation took place.

Her daughter Beverley said: "My mum Kathleen was chosen to be her village coronation queen in 1953 and on her 86th birthday yesterday (May 3), she searched for her memorabilia.
"Mum was only just 16 years old at the time. The owners of a grand old department store, Browns of Chester, donated gifts including use of their car to transport the queen and my grandad Albert, Mum's dad, was very proud to act as chauffeur on the day.
"It's a great story of how a local village had their own coronation day when the community wouldn’t have access to live TV."
