A HAIRDRESSER from Flintshire is taking on a challenge to raise money in aid of her dad's cancer battle.

Lisa Hayes, from Buckley, has been in the industry for 28 years and owns Wow hair salon in the Flintshire town.

Later this month the 44-year-old is set to take on a hairdressing challenge to raise funds for Macmillan, following a tough few years.

Four years ago, Lisa's dad, Doug was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has had ongoing treatment in his battle to beat it.

On May 20, she plans on doing 12 hours of non-stop blow-drys from 12pm until 12am, in addition to auctioning off a number of prizes donated from local businesses.

Following everything Lisa and her family have been through in the last four years, Macmillan holds a special place in their hearts.

She said: "My dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer four years ago and he is currently on his 6th round of chemotherapy after the cancer spread to his liver.

"He is generally a fit and active man but recent treatment has impacted the activities he enjoys and on top of that he also cares for my mum who has restricted mobility. He’s pretty amazing!

"I wanted to organise this fundraiser to raise awareness of the amazing work Macmillan do for many people, so thought I’d team it up with the job I love to raise money.

"The staff at Clatterbridge Hospital have been a huge support to my dad and our family over the last four years and I wanted to do this as dad is going through chemotherapy and Macmillan has been such an amazing support to our family."
