RESIDENTS across north Wales have been urged to remain vigilant following reports of a recent email scam.

TV Licensing scam emails have been reported to Action Fraud 3,455 times recently.

North Wales Police has reminded residents that real TV licensing emails will always include their name and/or part of their postcode - and that any suspicious emails can be forwarded to: report@phishing.gov.uk

An Action Fraud spokesman said: "The emails state that the recipient's RV licence is about to expire, or that there was an issue with their latest payment.

"The links provided in the email lead to genuine-looking websites that are designed to steal personal and financial details.

"If you have doubts about a message, contact the organisation directly - don't use the numbers or address in the message.

"Use the details from their official website.

"Your bank, or any other source, will never ask you to supply personal information via email."
