IT WASN'T just a celebration of music at Live on the Square this bank holiday weekend (April 30).

For one Mold couple, the day was made extra special after they got engaged in front of the Live on the Square stage - six years on from when they first got to know each other at the first event of its kind back in 2017.

Dyfrig Hills proposed to his partner, Pippa Jones after secretly planning the gesture with the Live on the Square organisers.

Dyfrig said: "That day (the first Live on the Square) was the moment when we both knew that we had something special.

"A short six years later, I thought it would be the perfect idea to get engaged at the event! I didn't want to do it in front of the whole crowd, but I messaged the organisers and they made it a secret mission to get Pippa in, and I was able to propose to her - it means a lot to us!"

The couple, who are set to leave for Vietnam in two weeks to teach English were happy to be able to share the news with family and friends before they set off.

A beaming Pippa added: "It's a nice way to celebrate with everyone before we come back in two years time."

When asked if she had any inkling of Dyfrig's plans she admitted she was non the wiser: "Not at all! When we first started coming to this festival, we didn't really know each other, but for me, this is the place where I realised, yes, he's my guy."

Dyfrig also cited the pair's love for local community-led initiatives as another reason why the couple are the perfect match: "We like local community things, and that's something that connects us."
