Meet three lovable dogs who are looking of their forever homes with the help of a Flintshire rescue.

Almost Home Dog Rescue, in Nercwys, is working hard to continue to rehome dogs during a time when demand is at a high.

Three dogs currently in their care have been waiting patiently to find their forever homes. Could it be with you?

Max

Max came from the pound, and it was clear that he has been a loved pet at some point in his life. He is an 11-year-old Staffie who is described as being “full of love”.

He is currently in foster with the rescue and has been spotless in the house and loves nothing more than a cuddle on the sofa. The rescue has noted that he loves his food, and his toy Kong, and walks well on the lead as well as being fine with other dogs during his walks. He is also good in the car and sleeps well at night in his crate.

The rescue said: “Max has started his vaccinations, been flea-treated and wormed, neutered and has had a dental - he must feel so much better after his dental as he had crumbling teeth and infected gums. Max is good with his basic commands and understands 'sit', 'bed', 'leave' and 'nicely'.  He's a clever boy and everything a Staffie should be!

“We are looking for a loving home for Max, somewhere he can have walks and plenty of fuss!”

Seth

The Leader: Seth the dog (previously Larry) Seth the dog (previously Larry) (Image: Almost Home Dog Rescue)

Seth the lurcher originally arrived at the rescue in September 2022 from the pound, who had tried to rehome him themselves.

He is thought to be around three-years -old and the rescue has noted that he travels well in the car and walks well on the lead, with a head collar so he feels more secure.

The rescue said that he is a “cuddle monster” who loves to play and that whoever adopts him will “never have a dull day again”.

Almost Home said: “Seth could live in a family home with dog-savvy, older children - he is strong and has a very waggy tail. He was a superstar at the vets, more than happy to be handled and simply loved the attention! He is vaccinated, flea-treated, wormed, microchipped and neutered.

“He is good with dogs, if introduced properly. He can become over-excited and unsure but soon settles with the assurance of his handler - Seth mirrors his handler's confidence.

“Seth does have prey-drive and this needs to be managed with a few simple steps. From experiences in his current home, Seth is not cat or small furry friendly and we will detail the specifics of this with any serious applicants.”

Ralf

The Leader: Ralf the dog Ralf the dog (Image: Almost Home Dog Rescue)

Ralf is a young Saluki-mix and is a recent arrival at the rescue, coming come from the pound. Almost Home said that he was in a “sorry state”, weighing just 14kg however is now doing better and weighs 20kg and is growing in confidence.

Ralf is described as a small-medium-sized saluki/lurcher who may be a little shy at first but soon realises he is safe and relaxes. The rescue said that he loves his zoomies and that it is “an absolute joy to see him enjoying himself and his freedom from such an awful past”.

Almost Home said: “We think Ralf is very young and is probably under 12 months old.  He walks beautifully on the lead, and almost looks like he's doing dressage or trotting. He is very friendly with the other kennel dogs, and is just desperate to play, therefore we think Ralf could live with other dogs and dog savvy children.”
