A PERSON has been killed after being hit by a train. 

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the line in Talacre at 12.27pm on April 26 following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

A spokesperson for BTP said: "Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

The incident happened on the service running between Chester and Rhyl.

National Rail tweeted at 1.05pm: "A person has been hit by a train between Chester and Rhyl. To allow the emergency services to attend to the scene, all lines are currently blocked between these stations. 

"Trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised as a result."

Transport for Wales tweeted: "Due to a person being hit by a train at Prestatyn, the line is blocked.

"Train services running through this station may be cancelled or delayed."

Routes affected include Avanti West Coast between London Euston and Holyhead and Transport for Wales between Cardiff Central, Birmingham International, Manchester Airport and Holyhead and between Manchester Airport and Llandudno.

National Rail said disruption was expected until 5pm.
