A GROUP of slimmers from Flintshire have collected over £1,500 for charity after donating their old clothes.

Every year, The Big Slimming World Clothes Throw raises funds by encouraging members to donate the clothes they’ve slimmed out of to their local Cancer Research UK shop.

This year, the Buckley slimmers have managed to collect over £1,500 by donating 60 bags of old clothes.

Tracey Evans, who runs the Slimming World group at the Hawkesbury Community Centre said: ”I’m always so proud of my members' achievements, also the way they help and support each other every week in group with never any judgement.

"Being in a community group with like minded people who relate and understand lets members know they are not alone, they’re now part of a group who with support them all the way to their target weight and help them stay there."

Tracey added:" “When I spoke to our members about donating clothes they were 100% behind me and took bags to fill.

"They donated an amazing 60 bags and with a bag value of between £25 to £30, so that's over £1,500.”

Tracey says that Slimming World has supported Cancer Research UK since 2013 and has raised more than £18 million in total.

She added: “When our members lose just 10% of their weight they start to significantly reduce the risks of certain cancers and many other health benefits too.”

This year Slimming World is also sponsoring The Race for Life. Raising awareness and vital funds for research.

Tracey will be at The Chester Race for Life on July 9, offering support and cheering everyone on.

Slimming World members also get a great discount if they are wanting to take part.
