WREXHAM goalkeeper Ben Foster has praised the 'ridiculous' matchday atmosphere at the Racecourse following the club's latest victory.

The 3-2 Easter Monday win over fellow title/promotion-chasers Notts County will live long in the memory for many a Reds fan.

And, of course, it was also very much a day to remember for players and coaching staff too - perhaps none more so than goalkeeper Ben Foster.

The former Premier League and England player was the hero on the day as he saved a last-gasp penalty to deny County a vital point.

Foster has since taken to his podcast 'FozCast' to discuss the match and was quick to heap praise on the Wrexham fans.

Speaking on the podcast, Foster said: "If you go to a Wrexham game, you will instantly become a Wrexham fan, it's as simple as that because of how much it means to them and how much they give it.

"Yeah, I've never felt anything like that honestly. For a non-league team, it just blows my mind, it really, really does."

"You feel the love from everybody, it's such a lovely club."

Foster added: "The Wrexham fans, I've never heard noise like it. The away fans at Halifax were ridiculous, the home fans on Monday were ridiculous. The atmosphere that they build up, I don't think I've seen anything like that before."

Experienced goalkeeper Foster is now back where it all began for him at Wrexham after coming out of retirement to sign for the Reds until the end of the season.

Brought in on a short-term deal after Rob Lainton sustained knee ligament damage in the 2-1 win at Bromley, the 40-year-old has returned to The Racecourse 18 years after he last played for the club.
