A POLICE vehicle was pelted with items during a chase in Wrexham, which resulted in the other vehicle crashing into a road sign.

The incident took place last night (April 12), according to North Wales Police's Intercept Team.

Officers had spotted a vehicle in 'suspicious circumstances' and the occupants attempted to make their getaway.

But, after throwing items at the police vehicle, the car eventually crashed into a road sign before being abandoned by the occupants.

Police say crime scene investigators are now examining the car and will 'be knocking on doors soon'.

Luckily, no police officers were harmed during the incident.

A statement from the NWP Intercept Team read: "You can't park that there. Officers sighted this vehicle last night in the Wrexham area in suspicious circumstances and the occupants weren't keen on speaking to our team.

"The vehicle made off at speed and during a pursuit it made contact with the police vehicle and threw items at the pursuing police vehicle.

"Unfortunately, the vehicle was located crashed into a road sign and abandoned nearby.

"Over to our crime scene investigators now to examine the vehicle, and we will hopefully be knocking on some doors soon.

"The police vehicle is poorly, but thankfully both officers are ok and will be back in work later."
