POLICE are warning Wrexham residents of cold callers claiming to be ex-offenders.
North Wales Police said there have been a "number of" incidents in the last week in the Gwersyllt, Llay and Minera areas.
It follows other recent reports of it happening in the Flintshire and Wrexham area.
PCSO Steve Bellis said: "People knocking on doors saying they are ex-convicts selling items from a bag and they have the full backing of probation services.
"They are also known as Nottingham Knockers. I don’t know of any probation team that would support this."
He added: "We have also had people knocking on doors saying they are collecting for Save the Children.
"If you go on most charities website you can make contact with them and ask them if they have anyone collecting in your area. Most have phone numbers as well."
