A FLINTSHIRE police inspector has provided an update on what officers have been dealing with over the last week.

Inspector Wesley Williams, of the North Flintshire policing team, issued a weekly update for residents.

He said that foot patrols, with support from the drone team, were carried out last week in Wepre Park, Garden City, Queensferry, Connah's Quay, Shotton, Holywell and Flint.

While out and about, officers located two wanted individuals in Flint and Holywell. Officers will continue to provide high visibility foot patrols at places of interest.

The Leader:

Inspector Williams said: "I am also seeking to put additional focus on high impact crimes such as domestic abuse, burglary, hate crime, and any other crimes where groups are disproportionately, or more likely, to be impacted.

"As an example, we will be seeking to put measures in place to prevent, reduce and put a stop to Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)."

He continued: Our team have enhanced the response provided to domestic abuse, improved the support and safeguarding available to victims or potential victims as well as increased our scrutiny to prevent missed opportunities to bring those involved to justice."

Inspector Williams added: "As we increase the focus and intensity to catch wanted individuals, I would ask that if you are a family member or friend that doesn't want the embarrassment and inconvenience of officers coming to visit you in connection to a wanted person enquiry, please encourage them to make contact or hand themselves in."
