A Holywell charity shop that is raising money for victims of domestic abuse has been praised for its work in the community. 

Walk and Talk Today shop is a not-for-profit organisation that raises money to help support families of domestic abuse and those people and local organisations in need.

Hannah Blythyn, Senedd Member for Delyn has started the Easter recess with a visit to the Walk & Talk Today shop in Ffynnongroyw and had the opportunity to catch up with the initiative’s founder Louise Rudd, who set up the shop in May 2020.

Hannah said: “Since opening, the initiative has gone from strength to strength and provides much valued support at the heart of the local community. As well as offering clothes, toys and household items, the shop now has a furniture showroom and also runs a popular tearoom.

"Louise and the other volunteers here also organise a local food bank and collect items for this too at the shop. If you’re having an Easter clear-out or planning a trip to the supermarket, the shop is always on the look out for donations in support of their great cause. I’m very much committed to continuing to support Louise and all the wonderful volunteers making a real difference in Ffynnongroyw and the surrounding area.”

The Delyn MS first met Louise when she was nominated as part of the politician's Community Champions scheme early on in the Covid pandemic and was later part of the official opening of the original Walk and Talk Today shop.

Louise said: “Hannah has always found the time to visit the shop and see the work we do here and we are very grateful for her continued support. We would like to ask one more favour, we really need customers to continue to come through the door so please spread the word and come and see us, there are lots of new items donated and vacancies for volunteers if anyone has free time to spare.”

Items can be viewed at the shop Walk & Talk Today in Ffynnongroyw Sunday - Thursday 10am to 3pm / Friday and Saturday 10am to 5pm.

Refreshments are also available for a donation of 50p.
