A Wrexham microbrewery has been shortlisted as small drink producer of the year in the Welsh food and drink awards 2023. 

Magic Dragon Brewing was started in 2017 by Richard and Liz Lever.

It is a microbrewery based at the Plassey Holiday Park that produces cask ale, craft beer and a craft lager.

The brewery supplies pubs and restaurants with cask/keg beers, as well as supplying shops with their range of 8 bottled beers.

The microbrewery has been shortlisted as small drinks producer of the year in the Welsh food and drink awards, whcih aims at celebrating the best food and drinks businesses in Wales.

This award recognises a Welsh drinks producer that has consistently made a real impact in the Welsh drinks sector.

The judges are looking in the following areas; quality of product and provenance of ingredients, how you tell your story through branding and presentation, originality of product and innovation, sustainability.

Shortlisted companies will now be invited to be interviewed by a panel of judges (which will also include the category judge and an independent judge).

The interviews will be the process by which the winner of each category is chosen.  

The 2023 awards ceremony is set to take place on May 18 at Venue Cymru Llandudno.

Liz Lever, co-founder of Magic Dragon Brewing, said "We are over the moon to be shortlisted for the small drink's producer of the year for the first time.

"We feel that our products have a strong Welsh brand that reflects our passion for brewing and beer in North Wales".
