A Wrexham food company, Mountain Produce, has been shortlisted in the innovation category of the Welsh Food and Drink Awards.
The company was established in 2013 starting with one polytunnel on their farm in Minera, growing lettuce using hydroponic techniques.
The company quickly outgrew their initial tunnel and now grow supply over 40 pubs, restaurants, cafes, farmshops and delis in Wrexham, Flintshire and Denbighshire.

The company have also increased their product range to include Lettuce, Watercress, Peashoots and edible flowers.
In 2022 Mountain Produce ventured into Welsh cold pressed rapeseed oil which is light and nutty for dipping or dressings and cold pressed sunflower oil which is a versatile oil that can also be used for bakind and roasting.
The farm utilises renewable power sources to reduce their carbon footprint, and they plan to install more this year.

A representative from Mountain Produce said: "We also manage our land with conservation in mind, creating a haven for wildlife and wildflowers, planting new trees and managing the grazing with our rare breed sheep and cattle.
"We are delighted to be finalists in the Innovation category of the Welsh Food and Drink awards."
The Wales F&D Innovation Award recognises those businesses that have achieved growth through innovation driven entrepreneurship.
For this category, innovation is broadly defined and could include technology, product or process innovation.
