DETAILS for the funeral of a popular Wrexham fan and father-of-two who died earlier this month have now been confirmed.

James Roberts, 47, died following a short illness at Kirchberg Hospital, Luxembourg, on March 8.

He was very well-known among the Wrexham AFC community due to the fact that he would travel over from Luxembourg to watch the Reds play - in trips of over 1,000 miles and 20-plus hours all round.

Following the news of his death, hundreds of Reds fans took to social media to pay tribute and share their memories of Mr Roberts, who was known as 'Jammy'.

A two-minute applause was also held in his honour in a match v Southend United at the Racecourse, just three days after his death.

Details for Mr Roberts' funeral have now been confirmed.

It will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, April 4 at Christ Church in Rossett.

Family flowers only but donations to the SEPSIS Trust would be 'gratefully received'.

Mr Roberts, who was a Wrexham fan since the 1980's, was known as the '#LuxRed' and had built up a following on Twitter with his regular journey updates between Luxembourg and Wrexham.

He initially moved to Luxembourg to work as a teacher at an international school in Luxembourg City in April 2017.

But his commitment to return to Wrexham knew no bounds. Speaking to the 'Final Whistle' podcast back in 2017, he said: "Wherever I am in the world, I know I'll be coming back for the games."

Mr Roberts was married to wife Lucy since 2016 and the couple had two children.

The death notice describes him as an 'adored husband, ‘dada’, son, brother and uncle'.

He was the only son of Joy and Barry and sister to Nicola and grew up in Marford and Gresford.

He trained as a teacher of science and taught at Flint High School and more recently at St George’s International School over in Luxembourg, where he was a 'popular and inspiring role model'.
