A Wrexham cat rescue has launched an appeal for food donations due to continuing rising costs and a decline in cat adoptions.

Candy and Tibby Trust is a small not-for-profit cat rescue run by volunteers since 2017.

The rescues overall aim is to rehome unwanted stray cats - reducing local feral colonies by TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and rehoming them onto quiet farms, smallholdings, allotments or stables.

The rescue supports the neutering campaign to stop unwanted litters, and supports and advises on stray cats, and general cat health.

The rescue launched a food donations appeal, which encourages those able to either donate to a just-giving page or drop off food at a drop point.

The drop-off points are; JML Pets, Dodds Lane, Gwersyllt LL11 4NT; Farm and Pet Place Gledrid, Chirk LL14 5DG; Isace Piercing & Holistic’s Academy, 85 Holt Road, Wrexham LL13 8NG and Premier Store Rhosllanerchrugog LL14 1AG.

A spokesperson for the rescue posted on the just giving page: "Our little rescue is full of cats who need their daily meals, and with our adoption rates at an all-time low, and food now being more expensive, our funds for food are quickly dwindling.

"If you are in the Wrexham area and would rather leave a tin or two of cat food at our donation drop-off points (we would be delighted)."

Since launching the cat food appeal, the rescue has raised a total of £672 towards its goal of £1,000.
