The headteacher of the year award recognised an individual that provides outstanding leadership with a clear and compelling vision for success.

This award will go to an inspirational head teacher who has shown exceptional leadership, management, teaching skills and commitment to their school or college.

The winner of this award was Adele Slinn, Headteacher of Ysgol Bryn Alyn.

Mrs Slinn has led the school through a very difficult five years, coming into a school in special measures to successfully bring the school out of the category in 2021.

She has been key to changing the attitude of our community, through bringing enthusiasm, innovation and never losing faith in what the school was capable of.

Mrs Slinn shared her "incredible pride" in her entire team, she said: "I am lucky to have such a fantastic team in senior leadership and staff."

Mrs Slinn also recognised the wider community in their support of the school.

Describing her favourite part of her role, Mrs Slinn added: "It is fantastic to move the school forward and every day is different.

"The children and staff at my school make every day worthwhile."

Other nominees in this category included; Mrs Billington, headteacher at Park Community Primary School who goes above and beyond for her students and Mrs Harison-Bowen, headteacher at Northop Hall C.P. School that has worked successfully with the school community to develop a clear- shared vision for the learning and wellbeing of its pupils. 

The award was presented by Gary Williams a representative from New Direction.
