The secondary school of the year category recognised a school who, in the opinion of the judges, has had an outstanding academic year.
This may be improvements in attendance levels, parent engagement or examination results as well building upon partnerships in the local or business community, achieved new green credentials, or achieved competition success.
The winner of this category was Ysgol Rhiwabon, who are committed to ensuring that every individual achieves the very best.
They strive for young people to leave school confident, happy and equipped with the skills for lifelong learning.
They have a proud history with values based on tradition, at the same time they’re an innovative and forward-facing school linked to the best educational practise.
The award was accepted by head teacher Melanie M. Ferron-Evans and Joan Love, Chair of the Governors.
Mrs Ferron. Evans said: “I am very very proud of our school and staff truly give 100%.”
She added: “I am also very proud of our students and all the hard work they put in, as well as the wider community of the school for trusting us and supporting us.”
