TWO FLINTSHIRE hotels have quashed rumours that they could become asylum seeker accommodation.
In recent weeks, news has broken that the new owners of the Northop Country House Hotel are set to seek planning permission to turn it into for accommodation asylum seekers.
If it gets the green light, the Northop Hall-based hotel would become home to 400 single male asylum seekers.
The proposal has been met with a backlash by many residents, and some Flintshire politicians - including Delyn MP, Rob Roberts.
And two other Flintshire hotels have released statements confirming there are no plans to turn them into similar accommodation, amid false social media rumours.
Highfield Hall, which is also in Northop Hall, took to its Facebook page to say: "It has come to our attention that someone has been messaging people who like our page telling them not to book with us as we are going to rent to migrants.
"We wanted to let you know we don’t know this person and have no idea how they decided this was the case and we can assure you we have never and will never consider this as an option as we are just about to complete on our new renovations ready for wedding season!
"Thank you for bringing it to our attention."

And Springfield Hotel & Restaurant, situated just off the A55 near Halkyn, also posted on Facebook saying: "Just to address a couple of rumours - The Springfield Hotel is categorically NOT being turned into asylum seeker accommodation and has never had any plans to do so.
"We're busy developing your local hotel to be better than ever, including a new studio for the Health Club & Spa, and a recently opened new bar. There will be more investment to come this year.
"Thank you everyone for your continued support."
