A CRIME investigation series has delved into the tragic case of a Flintshire-based police officer who killed his own wife.

Cops Who Kill lifts the lid on cases of murder and betrayal by police officers in Britain and around the world.

In each episode, TV personality and actor Will Mellor is joined by experts, including ex-Detective Superintendent Julie McKay, psychologist Serena Simmons, and ex-Murder Detective Howard Groves, to try to unravel how and why a police officer switches from law enforcer to lawbreaker.

They also discuss how they were finally brought to justice, and the horrendous consequences for all concerned.

In episode two of the latest series, the team's attention turns to north Wales to a case from the 90's.

It follows the tale of police officer Steven Jones, who was 34 years old at the time and lived in Ewloe, Hawarden.

He was married to wife Madallin and the pair had two sons together.

The episode synopsis reads: "When police arrived at the scene of a car crash outside the village of Hawarden on January 3, 1993, they assumed it was just a tragic accident.

"The car had crashed into a tree and its female driver lay dead nearby. The victim was Madallin Jones, the wife of serving Police Officer Steven Jones.

"However, detectives’ suspicions were soon raised when clues at the scene began to point to the unthinkable – the crash was not an accident and Madallin had been murdered.
