A "COMMUNITY champion" was gifted a surprise as a thank you for supporting a local organisation.
Ali Anthony, a regular volunteer at the Repair Cafe Wrecsam, gave Pete Humphreys, owner of the Yellow and Blue Community Hub and Cafe a gift on Wednesday (March 15).
Using her crafting and recycling skills, Ali made a yellow and blue heart statue as a way to thank Pete, for allowing the use of the cafe each month.
Volunteers at the Repair Cafe wanted to show their appreciation to Pete, who was very grateful for the gesture.
He said: "Repair Cafe Wrecsam has grown from a small gathering at Yellow and Blue to a full hub of repairers and that’s a testament, I think, to the hard work of all the volunteers who take part.
"When I was presented with an amazing gift to YaB from a volunteer named Ali, made from recycled materials it really did feel like the journey was successful. From the emails and meetings at the start to the growth, then seeing something wonderfully made with the heart YaB represents was amazing - we really can’t wait to see it grow further."

Ali said "I've been volunteering for the Repair Cafe Wrecsam for a few months now, and thought it would be nice to let Pete know just how much we appreciate Yellow and Blue giving us somewhere to set up each month.
"It's a great place, with a fantastic, family-like friendly atmosphere; the cafe does some delicious food at very reasonable prices too, which is always nice because after the repair cafe session ends we can just chill out and have a brew, a bite to eat and a natter with each other!"
Repair Cafe Wrecsam events run on the last Saturday of each month and the next one will be Saturday, March 25, 11am-1pm.
