IT WAS a night to remember on Friday (March 10) as a darts icon came to put on a masterclass.

Michael Van Gerwen was the special guest at the Argoed Sports and Social Club in Mynydd Isa as Ace of Sports held its 2023 darts tournament.

The three-time world champion was on hand as the venue was transformed into darts heaven for the night.

MVG invited members of the crowd onto the stage to bravely step up to the oche and take him on in 501 matches.

And the tournament's overall winner - Shaun 'the Sheep' Thompson impressed as he pushed Van Gerwen all the way in a finale match.

Having already lifted the Ace of Sports tournament trophy, Shaun, who is from Buckley, took the Dutchman on in a thrilling best of five event.

'The Sheep' had led by two legs to one and had even hit a 180 before Van Gerwen staged an impressive fightback to win 3-2.

It was a fantastic night at the social club and one which all in attendance will no doubt remember for years to come.
