Wrexham and Flintshire have been blanketed in a layer of snow today (Thursday, March 9) which is set to get deeper heading into Friday.
The Met Office today upgraded a yellow weather warning to amber in the region for snow and ice.
All schools in Flintshire were closed and there was a long list of Wrexham schools also experiencing a snow day.
Both councils have been working hard to grit and clear the roads, but some were deemed impassable today.
Wrexham Council has said that all their resources have been out through the night and following shift change, continued this morning.
They have supervisors scouting and gritting teams have been out since 7am pre-salting in advance of refuse and recycling collections. Gritting and ploughing taking place on priority routes.
A spokesperson has said that they anticipate, and are resourcing, for winter weather treatment for the rest of office hours today before a further shift change for evening drivers and crews who will pick up treatment into this evening and through the night.

Public transport faced severe disruption, with all Arriva services in Wrexham being suspended except service 1 & 5.
All garden waste collections were suspended in Flintshire but crews have been deployed to assist with black bin and recycling collections. The was no disruption to services in Wrexham according to a spokesperson.
In Flintshire, the following bus services were also disrupted:
- P & O Lloyd have told the council that the following services have been cancelled 18, 19, 23, 22, 8 ,9, 126 ,LT 7, Flexi service 14a
- The Deeside Shuttle is currently operating as normal.
- The 14 service is serving the main Mold – Denbigh is currently operating as normal.
- Both the Holywell and Buckley Fflecsi services have been suspended today and no bookings are being taken for tomorrow.
- Townlynx Service 28 continues to operate although delays are expected due to driving conditions
- Townlynx Service 6 has been suspended
- M&H Coaches Service 29 continues to operate although delays are expected due to driving conditions.
More information will be issued regarding disruptions to schools and services across the two counties tomorrow.
