A Wrexham-based charity has launched an appeal to get chocolate Easter eggs to Ukrainian children affected by war.

The Easter holidays are a huge cultural celebration in Ukraine, (April 16 2023), and to help them celebrate Teams4U are looking for donations of medium easter eggs which will go to children in the Mariupol region of Ukraine.

Over the past year Teams4U - who run the annual shoebox appeal - have met the needs of families in Ukraine by supplying basic amenities and household essentials, which included a successful public appeal for donations.

Now, Teams4U are collecting Easter eggs from March 1 to March 31 to get them to the children in time.

The Easter eggs will make their way to children from the Mariupol region, who’s homes and livelihoods were taken first being so close to Russian land. They received shoeboxes this last Christmas but Teams4U have said that they would like to brighten their lives and give them more reasons to smile as war continues.

Simon Cooke said: "We are hoping to take Easter eggs out to Ukraine as I was told when I last visited that Easter is an important date in the Ukrainian calendar.
We wanted to do something following on from our shoebox appeal to show the children that we haven’t forgotten about them.

"It’s always the children that suffer the most. Thousands of children have had their lives turned upside down in the last 12 months. Many have lost friends, families, their homes, schools and places to play.

"According to UNICEF ‘5.9 million people are currently displaced in Ukraine."
