TWO men have apologised after causing a scene with police in a Wrexham Wetherspoons.
Sean Hughes, of Oakfield Road in Hawarden, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Tuesday alongside co-defendant Mervyn Owen, of Little Mountain in Summerhill.
Both admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour in Regent Street on February 5, and Owen admitted that on that date he had in his possession a quantity of amphetamine.
Prosecutor Justin Espie told the court that on the day in question, police were called to an incident involving the defendants at a pub in the city centre.

When they were spoken to they became "agitated" and began to shout and swear, causing disruption at the premises.
Hughes, 35 and Owen, 45 were arrested and when taken to the police station, Owen was found to have the drug - at a quantity consistent with personal use.
David Matthews, representing both defendants, told the court: "These gentlemen tell me they were minding their own business in Wetherspoons, when police officers attended after reports someone had been selling drugs.
"They challenged both men and searched them thoroughly. Mr Hughes and Mr Owen took the view they had been singled out and treated in a high-handed way.
"They behaved inappropriately in response to the officers and clearly there was disorderly acts and bad language used, for which they apologise.

"Mr Owen was unaware that the very small amount of amphetamine found in his pocket was there."
Both men received a 12 month conditional discharge for their behaviour at the pub, and Owen was handed a £200 fine for the drug offence.
They were ordered to pay £85 costs and a £53 victim sucharge.
