A PUBLIC meeting is being held after concerns continue to grow over plans for a new housing development in Wrexham.

Concerns over a new housing development between Gwersyllt and Wrexham have prompted local councillor Pete Howell to organise a public meeting for local residents.

Castle Green Homes is seeking to develop land at Stansty Fields, off Mold Road in Gwersyllt to create a 96 home development.

Wrexham Council has received a formal planning application submitted on behalf of the developer from Grimster Planning.

Cllr Howells has organised the meeting which is being held on Thursday (March 2) at Gwersyllt Resource Centre, LL11 4ED, at 6.30pm.

Cllr Howell, Plaid Cymru's councillor for Gwersyllt South, said: "A Design and Planning representative from Castlegreen Homes Limited has been invited to the public meeting to speak to local residents about the merits of the proposed development, and to answer any questions around some of the objections already raised locally.

"Nearly 300 people have signed the petition against the plans and many have commented that this latest housing scheme would place additional pressures on already creaking health services and schools as well as worsening congestion and road safety on this busy road.

"As the local councillor for this part of Gwersyllt, I share those concerns and I'm passionate about protecting our green fields. The creeping urban sprawl we're seeing along the A483 is merging villages and towns without providing the infrastructure that communities need to thrive.

"This latest plan would mean there is planning permission or an application in for 800 new homes in my ward alone - it's completely unsustainable."
