A MOLD man who tried to dispose of his drugs by throwing them over a hedge whilst being chased by police has been spared jail.

Brandon Sharples, of Hawthorn Avenue, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Thursday.

The 25-year-old had previously been convicted of possessing cocaine, as well as for possession with intent to supply cannabis and amphetamine.

Karl Scholz, prosecuting, told the court that on January 5 this year, he was seen leaving an address in Hawthorn Avenue and was recognised by police.

After running over a road and down an alleyway, he was apprehended - with a mobility scooter and a phone in his possession.

Mr Scholz explained that as he was about to be handcuffed, Sharples ran off again and was seen throwing an object over a hedge.

After he was eventually detained, eight 'deals' of cocaine were found in a garden where he'd thrown them, and £80 in cash was seized from him.

He was taken back to the address he'd been seen leaving, where further drugs were found.

The Leader:

Simon Rogers, defending, agreed with Judge Niclas Parry that the offences crossed the custody threshold - but made no further submissions after the Judge confirmed he was not looking to impose an immediate custodial sentence.

He was handed an eight month custodial sentence - suspended for two years. As part of the sentence, he must undertake 35 programme requirement sessions, 15 days of rehabilitation activity and complete 80 hours of unpaid work.
