POLICE are warning people not to fly drones in the restricted zone around Hawarden Airport.
North Wales Police's South Flintshire team said it has recently seen an increase in drones flying in the Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ) at Hawarden Airport.
Police said flying a drone in an FRZ can have "serious consequences", including interfering with the safety of air traffic, damaging aircraft and causing accidents that could lead to injuries or fatalities.
Additionally, flying in an FRZ can result in legal consequences, including fines, drone seizure and prosecution.

Here are some useful drone safety tips issued by police to help avoid this:
- Always check the airspace restrictions before you fly your drone. You can use apps or online resources to find out if your location is within a FRZ.
- Keep your drone within visual line of sight and never fly beyond an altitude of 400 feet/120 Meters.
- Make sure that your drone is in good working condition, with the battery fully charged, and the firmware updated.
- Always respect the privacy of others and be mindful not to endanger persons or animals during operation.
